How we review

The short version: real prices with dates on them, the incumbents named whether they pay us or not, and no rating we did not actually form.

Prices are read off the vendor, and dated

Every price on this site comes from the vendor's own pricing page, and the date we read it is printed next to it. We do not copy numbers from other roundups — that is how a stale price propagates across forty sites for two years. When a vendor hides pricing behind a sales call, we write "quote only" rather than guessing.

We quote the price a crew actually pays

Field service software is advertised at the single-user, prepaid-annual price. Almost nobody pays that. Where seats cost extra we do the arithmetic for a three-person crew on monthly billing and show that number too, because that is the one that shows up on the card.

The incumbents are named on every page

Jobber, Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan appear on every software roundup and comparison here. We earn nothing from Jobber or ServiceTitan. They are on the page because a roundup that omits the market leaders is an advertisement wearing a review's clothes, and you would be right not to trust it.

Ratings, and when we do not give one

We only publish a score for a product we have used enough to judge. Where we have not, there is no number and no stars — and nothing is marked up in schema either, so the rating cannot show up in a search result we did not earn.

Who this site is for

One to four person home service businesses: exterior cleaning, lawn and landscape, handyman, cleaning, junk removal, septic, pool, detailing. If you are a homeowner looking for what a job should cost you, this is the wrong site — our pricing guides are written to help an operator set rates, not to help a customer check a bill.

How we get paid

Affiliate commissions, disclosed at the top of every page that carries one. Every money page carries at least three programs, so no page depends on a single merchant and no merchant can buy a position.
