Show the frequency ladder

The most valuable thing on a lawn care quote is the comparison between frequencies:

  • Weekly — $45 per visit · $180/month
  • Fortnightly — $60 per visit · $120/month
  • Monthly — $85 per visit · $85/month

Set out like that, weekly is obviously better value per visit and the customer can see why: less growth between cuts, less work, lower price. A meaningful share of customers quoted fortnightly will choose weekly when they see the ladder.

Weekly customers are also better customers — more predictable routing, less work per stop, and far less likely to drift away over a season.

Define the visit

Mow all turf, edge hard surfaces and bed lines, blow clippings from hard surfaces. Then the exclusions: beds, hedges, leaves, weeds in paving, fertiliser.

Every exclusion is a future sale. Every ambiguity is a future argument.

Measure before you quote

Lawn care is priced on area and drive time, and both are visible from satellite imagery before you leave the house. Quoting off a phone description is how operators end up with the low-margin properties on the wrong side of town.

State the season

“April through October, approximately 28 visits.” A customer who signs in April and a customer who signs in July are buying different amounts of service, and the quote should make the term explicit.

Put the extras on early

Aeration, overseeding, fertiliser, spring clean-up, leaf clearing. Priced, listed, not included.

Customers do not know they can buy these from you unless you tell them, and the ones who buy them are worth two or three ordinary accounts.

Turning quotes into a route

Jobber at $49/mo converts an accepted quote into a recurring job with monthly recurring billing, which is the entire administrative requirement of a lawn round. QuoteIQ at $29.99/mo measures the property for you and is the cheaper start. Housecall Pro adds route optimisation on Max and five seats at $189/mo.

Questions operators actually ask

What should a lawn care quote include?

The property, what a standard visit covers, the frequency options with per-visit and monthly prices, the season the quote covers, and the seasonal extras priced separately. Frequency options matter — showing weekly next to fortnightly moves customers up a tier more often than you would expect.

Should I quote per visit or monthly?

Show both. Per visit lets the customer compare you against a competitor; monthly is how you actually want to bill. Presenting the monthly figure as the headline with the per-visit rate beside it gets you the billing structure you want without hiding anything.

How do I quote a lawn I have not measured?

Measure it off satellite imagery before you quote. Lawn care is priced by area and drive time, and both are visible from above. Quoting from a phone description is how you win the jobs you should have lost.

Should extras be on the quote?

Yes, priced but not included. Aeration, overseeding, fertiliser programmes, spring clean-up and leaf clearing are the margin in this trade. Listing them on the initial quote plants them as future purchases rather than favours.

How long should a lawn care quote be valid?

Through the season it covers. State the months explicitly — a quote accepted in July for an April-to-October price is a different job from the one you priced.
