Roofing estimating software: aerial measurement or job quoting

What “roofing estimating” usually means

Roofing splits differently from the other trades on this site. On HVAC, plumbing, electrical and drywall, “estimating software” means commercial takeoff — loading a plan set and measuring off drawings — which is a different product category from field service software and sold to a different business entirely.

Roofing has no such split, because there is no drawing to take off from. The roof is the drawing. So estimating here means two things instead:

Measurement. EagleView, Roofr and Hover produce a report with area, pitch, facets and edge lengths from aerial or phone imagery. This replaces climbing up with a tape.

Quoting. Turning those numbers plus your rates into an optioned proposal a homeowner signs. That is what the tools below do.

They are complementary rather than competing, and plenty of roofers pay for one of each. We have not verified measurement-provider pricing, so there are no figures for them here.

Where the four general tools fit

Entry prices are the no-commitment monthly rate for the cheapest usable tier, checked August 31, 2026.
Tool Starts at Users included Best for Verdict
QuoteIQ $29.99/mo 1 Solo roofers, repairs Satellite area measurement + quoting
Jobber $49/mo 1 One to four person crews Best quoting and job handling
Housecall Pro $79/mo 1 Five or more Proposal tool for material tiers
ServiceTitan Quote only Unlimited Large operations Quote-only; not its strongest trade

QuoteIQ — the only one that measures

$29.99/mo · Solo roofers

Field service software built for exterior cleaning and outdoor home service crews, with property measurement baked into the quote.

MapMeasure Pro traces a roof on satellite imagery and drops the area into the quote. For repairs and straightforward replacements that removes the measuring trip entirely, and at $29.99/mo it is by far the cheapest way to get a measurement-to-quote workflow.

Be honest about the limit: it is a plan-view area. No pitch, no facet breakdown, no ridge and valley lengths. On a complex roof it is a starting number, not a bid.

QuoteIQ pricing page showing five plans: Essentials $29.99, Beginner $74.99, Pro $149.99, Elite $299 and Max $699 per month, with the users and AI credits included in each.
QuoteIQ's tiers, captured 31 August 2026. MapMeasure Pro arrives on Beginner at $74.99 — Essentials at $29.99 does not include it.

What it does well

  • Cheapest real entry point of anything in this category — $29.99 gets a working quote-to-invoice loop, not a crippled trial tier.
  • MapMeasure Pro measures a property off satellite imagery, which is the actual job on a lawn, driveway or roof quote.
  • Every tier includes the features. No add-on menu bolted on at checkout.

What it does badly

  • Smaller company than the incumbents. Fewer integrations, and you will occasionally be the person filing the bug.
  • Built around exterior and outdoor trades. If you run commercial mechanical, this is the wrong shape.
  • Seat counts are tight below Elite — a four-person crew is already on the $149.99 tier.

Who it fits: Solo operator to a four-person crew, mostly exterior cleaning and outdoor work.

Jobber — best quoting for a small roofer

$49/mo · One to four people

The default field service platform for small home service businesses, and the one most operators compare everything else against.

No measurement, but the best proposal a customer will open at this price, plus multi-day job handling and deposits. Optional line items on Grow at $199 let a homeowner choose their shingle tier themselves.

Core is $49/mo plus $29 per seat.

What it does well

  • The most polished product in the category. Onboarding is fast and the mobile app is the one crews complain about least.
  • Client-facing experience — booking page, quote approvals, payment — is a step above everything cheaper.
  • Deepest integration list, so it fits whatever you already run the books in.

What it does badly

  • The advertised entry price is one user. Seats are $29/mo each on every tier, so a three-person crew on Core is $107/mo, not $49.
  • Automation that most operators consider essential — reminders, follow-ups — is Connect and up, a 2.8x jump from Core.
  • Prepaid annual pricing is what the marketing quotes; the no-commitment monthly number is meaningfully higher.
Jobber pricing page showing the Grow, Connect and Core plans at $105, $70 and $21 per month billed annually, each marked as a 12-month introductory rate.
Three of Jobber’s four tiers, captured 31 August 2026. Note the small print under each price: the headline figure runs for 12 months, then rises to $149, $99 and $29. The Plus tier sits off-screen in their carousel.

Who it fits: One person to a mid-size crew. The Core tier is genuinely usable solo; the useful automation starts at Connect.

Housecall Pro — best for tiered proposals

$79/mo · Five or more roofers

Jobber’s closest competitor, priced for teams rather than solos, with stronger dispatch and marketing tooling.

The Max proposal tool at $329 presents good-better-best material options, which is how replacement roofing is actually sold. Essentials at $189 includes five seats.

No measurement and no claims handling.

What it does well

  • Five seats included on Essentials is the best seat-per-dollar deal of the three once you are past two people.
  • Dispatch and routing are stronger than Jobber’s at the equivalent tier.
  • Recurring service plans on Max are genuinely good if you sell maintenance contracts.

What it does badly

  • Worst entry price in the category: $79/mo for a single user, 60% more than Jobber Core for less.
  • Extra seats on Essentials are $100/mo — the most expensive seat of any tool here.
  • Add-on pricing is not published. You will get those numbers on a sales call, not off the website.

Who it fits: Two to eight people. The seat maths only starts working in your favour once you have a crew.

ServiceTitan is excellent for HVAC, plumbing and electrical and is not where roofers usually land; quote-only pricing, an annual contract, a paid implementation.

How we picked

Prices read off each vendor’s pricing page on 31 August 2026, no-commitment monthly rate with seats added. We weighted measurement-to-quote workflow, optioned proposal presentation and deposit handling. We treated insurance claims and supplements as a gap across all four and said so.

We earn nothing from Jobber or ServiceTitan.

What we would do

Repairs and simple replacements, solo: QuoteIQ Beginner at $74.99 for the measurement.

Small crew selling replacements: Jobber Grow at $199, plus an aerial measurement provider per job.

Insurance and storm work: none of these — price AccuLynx and JobNimbus.

Questions operators actually ask

What is roofing estimating software?

It usually means one of two things. Aerial measurement — EagleView, Roofr, Hover — produces a report with roof area, pitch, facets, ridge and valley lengths from imagery. Quoting software turns those numbers plus your rates into a proposal a homeowner signs. Some platforms like AccuLynx and JobNimbus do the second and integrate the first.

Do I need an aerial measurement report for every roof?

Not for a simple gable you can measure in twenty minutes. They pay for themselves on complex roofs, on steep pitches you would rather not walk, and on insurance work where an independent measurement supports the claim.

Can QuoteIQ replace an EagleView report?

No. QuoteIQ's satellite measurement gives you a plan-view area, which is a workable input for a repair or a straightforward replacement. It does not give pitch, facet detail, ridge or valley lengths. Pricing a complex tear-off from it without going up there is how roofers lose money.

How should I present a roofing estimate?

As two or three material options with the tear-off, underlayment, flashing and disposal itemised. Roofing customers are spending heavily on something they cannot inspect, and an itemised, optioned proposal does more to win the job than the lowest number does.

What about insurance and supplements?

None of the four general tools on this page handle claims, supplements or Xactimate. If storm work is a real share of your revenue, that alone points you at AccuLynx or JobNimbus instead.
